A New Year note to myself - Bob Cagnetta
When I look at myself and think out loud I am reminded of the scripture in Hebrews- 12-1-2....
''Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight- and the sin which does so easily beset us, let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith...''
From this I have decided to do exactly this - I will personalise this scripture to me .
1- I have a race to run - It simply means I will take up the cross and follow Jesus Christ. I have a work to do and do it I will..
2- Many have gone before me !- So I am surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses. They were persecuted, afflicted, were frail - as I am - weak and with infirmities - but I will carry on as they all did...
3- I will try and lay aside every weight which has slowed me down. Give up every thing which will always try and trip me up... I must rid my self of the affection of this world and run...
4- I will learn to run in patience - to be a child of the living faith, which will flow from a confidence - that all things are working together for my good...
5- I will keep looking unto Jesus - Peter did run well - for a time when he left the boat to walk upon the sea to Jesus - but he saw the waves and the storm he was afraid and began to sink. I am like him at times for sure - I will try and keep my eye on Jesus and go through the fire, and water, and they will not hurt me. When I am tempted - look at Jesus, I will look to Jesus in the hospital, the stores, the streets and in everything else which will try and afflict me I will look to Jesus.
My New year is faith in Jesus and try to be a better servant with his grace and mercy always. I will run depending on Him - To let go of my own poor attempts at serving. The Lamb of God needs to become real in my life - and I need to open my eyes and focus...
